Weymouth windsurfer Bryony Shaw will be Skandia Team GBR s leading light at the RS:X European Championships, which get underway in Limassol, Cyprus, on Friday (8 June).
The 24-year-old world number two scooped silver at the 2006 RS:X Europeans in Turkey, but with a solid win at the recent Grade 1 French Olympic Sailing Week in Hyeres (FRA) under her belt, she ll be pushing for gold in the Mediterranean waters across the six days of racing.
Fellow Skandia Team GBR sailor Lucy Horwood will join Shaw in vying for honours this week in the women s competition, with youngster Beth Williamson also representing Great Britain. In the men s event, Leo McCallin will be the sole British entry, as Athens bronze medallist Nick Dempsey has opted not to defend his European crown and is instead focussing on preparing for the ISAF World Sailing Championships in Cascais, Portugal, which get underway at the end of the month.
Racing at the RS:X Europeans starts on Friday 8 June, and concludes on Friday 15 June with a reserve day scheduled for Monday 11 June.
