RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds have been set up on the RYA website allowing users to receive news alerts to their desktop of the latest RYA news, filtered down to their individual boating interest. The feeds can be configured to pop up in a small, unobtrusive window on the user s workspace the moment a new RYA news story rolls off the presses .
We have provided a
guide to the RSS system which entails the user downloading feed reader/ aggregator software, a free download from a third party site. This, with method depending on the chosen software, allows the user to set up their desktop alert system to show RYA news.
Additionally the system allows other websites to show RYA news headlines on their site. This facility is available for all boating related sites to use, but may be of particular interest to RYA affiliated Club and Recognised Training Centre websites which may occasionally find themselves a bit short of news from their own areas.
If you are a marine/ boating related website and would like to show these RSS RYA news headlines, please feel free to use the RSS facility provided, but as a matter of courtesy, once you have set up your system please drop the
RYA Web Editor an email to help us keep records on which sites are finding the facility of use.
The RYA cannot offer user support on the use of aggregator software or advice on the coding of third party websites wishing to use the RSS facility.
