Welcome to the RYA Volunteer Resource Centre
The long term future of our sport depend on a number of factors. A key factor is our continued ability to attract and retain sufficient motivated, enthusiastic and skilled volunteers to support our clubs, and deliver sailing activity.
This army of individuals commit their time, efforts and experience to our clubs and centres making it possible for people to enjoy boating and sailing in a welcoming and friendly club environment. These volunteers are clubs most valuable asset, and it is crucial to invest time and effort in co-ordinating and supporting their efforts.
The information available in this resource centre provides clubs with information regarding the RYA Volunteer Support programme and outlines how the RYA hopes to support the clubs involved in the OnBoard programme, to enable them to offer a quality and rewarding experience to volunteers.
We also include information which promotes good practice with regard to involving volunteers in delivering sailing/boating activity and running successful clubs. We do not profess to have all of the answers, or wish to tell you how to run your club, merely to provide information, support and where appropriate guidance on what you might do to ensure that your club attracts enough of the right people with the right skills and experience and that they continue to support the club by offering their time.
We also recognise that this information does not cover every aspect of volunteering and it is our intention, over the coming months, to develop additional information/resources which can be added at a later date. Please see 'Related Links' for contact if you have any ideas/requests for areas of volunteering which you would like to see included.
