Training
- The RYA offers 60 different theory and practical training courses
- Approximately 165,000 RYA certificates were issued in 2011
- The most popular course in 2011 was Powerboat Level 2, with 24,000 people taking the course
- There are 2,532 recognised RYATraining Centres worldwide
Team15
- There are 70 active T15 clubs (as at 01/02/2012)
- 44 clubs took part in 2011 inter-club events, with 862 kids taking part in those inter-club events
- During 2011, 389 kids sailed on Techno boards (45%) which is the pathway board required for RYA Zone Squads, allowing T15 to be effective in feeding the RYA training path
OnBoard (OB)
- From 01 April 2005 to 01 February 2012 have run over 300,000 OB beginner sailing sessions for young people
- Signed up 230 sailing or windsurfing clubs/centres (as at 01/02/2012)
- Some 19,000 youngsters now sail/windsurf on a regular basis (as at 01/02/2012)
Honda RYA Youth RIB Championships (HYR)
- Approximately 5,500 youngsters aged 8-16 competed in the HRY championships 2011 - local heats, regional finals and national final
Racing
Skandia Team GBR - the British Sailing Team in the Olympic and Paralympic Classes
- Performance Squad: 40 sailors to 31 December 2011

- RYA National Youth Squad (under 19) - 92 sailors (as at December 31, 2011)
- There are ten Youth classes - Laser Standard, Laser Radial boys and girls, 420 boys and girls , 29er boys and girls, RSX 8, 5 boys and girls, Spitfire
- At the 2011 Youth World and European Championships, the RYA Volvo National Youth Squad sailors won 27 medals
Junior
- RYA National Junior Squad (Under 16) - 132 sailors (as at Dec 31, 2011)
- There are seven Junior classes - Topper, Cadet, Mirror, Optimists, Laser 4.7, Bic Techno, RS Feva XL
- At the 2011 Junior World and European Championships, RYA Junior Squad sailors accrued 19 medals including 7 World Champions and 1 European Champion
- RYA Intermediate Squads - 49 sailors
- RYA Zone and Home Country Squads - around 500 sailors
Publications
- Introduced 10 new publications in 2011
- 12 new publications, including new editions scheduled for 2012
- 340,000 items including books and DVDs sold every year
- There are 389 items including publications, DVDs and charts available from the RYA through the RYA shop, as well as member offers to get preferential rates on other goods
Sailability
- There are 158 RYA Sailability sites (as at 01/02/2012)
- So far some 35,229 disabled people have been able to experience sailing through the RYA Sailability programme (as at 01/02/2012)
- 9,148 disabled people now sail on a regular basis (as at 01/02/2012)
- The programme is supported by 5,704 Sailability volunteers (as at 01/02/2012)
