HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YA
Stevie Wonder was in full force today as it is Alex’s birthday and I was stuck on repeat of the 3 lines I know from that song – which I am sure the whole team appreciated as I have a genuine musical talent!
Today was going to be big Thursday with 3 races scheduled and then the majority of the regatta complete. After keeping focused on yesterday’s lay day with some training on the water- the only team on the water and a complete team support staff as well. The squad was ready for some 3 race action.
Sadly despite my best wind dance attempts we were in for a wait. After some moderate to strong wind with a fair bit of rain on our trip out last night for dinner, we were greeted with a decent northerly wind first thing that fairly rapidly diminished and by scheduled start time was less than 2KT. Postponed ashore retire to the suite and wait
Finally around 1430-1500 the flag was lowered and out they went and the home they came with Alex completing the birthday celebrations with a victory.
The weather for the Paralympics has been quite different to the Olympic Games period generally stronger wind and more southerly sea breezes. However today we have seen a turn back to very similar light E conditions that we experienced during the Games with some fairly choppy conditions. Similar situation expected tomorrow and hopefully more than one race
