2015 EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup series draws to a close in La Rochelle this week

La Rochelle will host the fifth and final stage of the 2015 EUROSAF Champions Sailing Cup series from 6-10 October, with British talents in attendance across five classes at the Semaine Olympique Française.

The regatta will see a mix of top British Sailing Team stars chasing the podium places, plus rising Podium Potential and British Youth Sailing Team sailors testing their mettle in senior competition across five days of racing.

Podium squad sailors Dylan Fletcher-Alain Sign and John Pink-Stuart Bithell will be going for honours in the 49er event as they continue their build up to the World Championships in Buenos Aires next month, while Podium Potential pairings James Peters-Fynn Sterritt, Neil and Rory Hunter and Chris Thomas-Jack Hawkins will also contest the 22-boat men’s skiff event.

The Laser and RS:X 8.5 windsurfing events will see British sibling rivalries, with Jack and Henry Wetherell competing in the men’s single-handed Laser class along with Alex Mills Barton and Harry Blowers, while Launceston twins Saskia and Imogen Sills are among the 23 contenders in the windsurfing category.

Joining the Sills sisters in the RS:X 8.5 event will be British Youth Sailing Team members Andrew Brown and Dan Wilson, with fellow British Youth Sailing Team windsurfer Henry Bloodworth contesting the RS:X on the larger 9.5 rig.

Podium Potential squad sailors Georgina Povall and Ellie Cumpsty will fly the flag in the Laser Radial women's single-handed event.

Racing gets underway in La Rochelle on Tuesday 6 October with the final medal races scheduled for Saturday 10 October.
