This futuristic-looking vehicle has been designed by a
Chinese inventor to go on the road or water!
Designer Yuhan Zhang, 21, created the design for a
competition sponsored by
Volkswagen that asked designers to come up with a
Chinese off-road vehicle.
The all-terrain Aqua, which has a top speed of 62mph,
works like a hovercraft, with four fans and integrated airbags that inflate to
make it hover. One of the motors inflates a 'skirt' around the vehicle to lift
it off the ground, while the other drives it forward and controls direction.
The vehicle was designed using currently available
technology and includes two motors powered by a hydrogen fuel cell, making it
environmentally-friendly as there are zero carbon emissions.
Yuhan Zhang hopes that the Aqua will become a supercar
that is affordable to everyone one day. She says, “There is no better form of
transport than an air cushion vehicle because it travels equally well over
land, ice and water.”
And if you have been wondering how you actually get
into the Aqua, it’s through the submarine-style rear hatch of the vehicle that
replaces the back window.
