Ali Young Still in the Mix
Ali Young is keeping her cool as she got another solid day under her belt at the London 2012 Sailing Regatta at Weymouth and Portland today (Friday 3 August).
The Olympic first timer sits in fifth overall after a sixth and an eighth with two more series races and the double points’ medal race still to come.
Young said: “It was a pretty solid day out, it wasn’t spectacular but I’m still in the mix for the races to come. I had a good start in the second race, there are always plusses, to take from each race but I will look to tweak a few things for tomorrow. The boat speed is good, the pace upwind is good and downwind was okay.”
She added: “This regatta doesn’t feel any different to any other regatta really, once you’re out on the water you’re just racing. But it’s quite cool when you get home and you’re watching TeamGB winning medals in other sports.”
The Laser Radials are scheduled to resume at 12.05pm tomorrow (Saturday 4 August) on the Weymouth Bay West course.
The Olympic Sailing Regatta runs from Sunday 29 July – Saturday 11 August. The Laser Radial medal race is scheduled for Monday 6 August (1pm).
