Celebrate Rio 2016 at your club
The action might be happening over 5,700 miles away but there’ll still be plenty of home interest when the Rio 2016 sailing events get underway on Monday 08 August. There are so many ways your club can join in with the excitement and support the British Sailing Team as they compete to bring home the medals.
Watch the live racing
We know we’re in for a treat with some nail biting racing predicted this summer so why not get a crowd together and watch the drama unfold during the Olympic medal races at your club (medal races start on 14 August with the RS:X classes).
The sailing will be shown on the BBC Red Button or can be streamed live through the BBC website. With the time difference in Rio being four hours behind, races will be scheduled to begin at 5pm so what better excuse to open the bar, light the BBQ and cheer on your sailing hero!
Although there's unfortunately no live footage of the Paralympic Games sailing events in September, you'll be able to follow the action via GPS tracking on the World Sailing website.
Invite friends and family
With all the media attention during the Games, there has never been a better time to inspire people to get out on the water including your members. You could run family fun pursuit races, Olympic themed treasure hunts or encourage members to bring friends and family along for free.
Following the success of PTBO, many clubs are running taster sessions this summer. I Am GB, an initiative brought to you by the National Lottery and ITV, supported by the British Olympic Association will see local sports clubs and activity groups opening their doors and offering opportunities to get the local community active.
Sail for Gold Roadshow
To celebrate the Games, the RYA will be hitting the road during the Olympic sailing medal race week with the RYA Sail for Gold Roadshow to venues which have a special connection to out Olympic medal contenders. Find out more
Support the Paralympics by taking part in Bart's Bash which takes place on 17-18 September (the final weekend of the Paralympics) and is raising funds for disabled sailing.
