Sport England have launched their annual Small Grants programme which offers grants from £300 - £10,000 to support non-profit organisations get more people into sport.
Eligible projects must fit in the with Sport England’s Youth and Community Strategy or focusing on adults and young people aged 14 and over.
RYA Director of Sport Development Alistair Dickson said: “In the past we have seen large numbers of sailing projects successful with these grants so would encourage clubs and centres to take a look and see if their projects might be eligible”.
When awarding grants, a number of key objectives will be considered, which include:
- Get more people playing sport once a week
- Help increase the number of 14-25 year olds playing sport once a week
- Help reduce the drop off at ages 16, 18, 21 & 24
- Help increase the growth in the number of disabled people playing sport
Alistair continues: “The Small Grants process has changed slightly and there are now three main stages of the application process. If your project is focused on delivering sailing to people aged 14 and under you will need to demonstrate how your project directly supports Sport England’s objectives”.
