RYA Clubs Conference 

Venue: RYA Volvo Dinghy Show 2011 Date: 5 March 2011 Time: 10.30am – followed by workshops at 12.00

This year's RYA Club Conference, held at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show on the 5-6 March will focus on our Olympic Activations programme. This is our programme aimed at helping you and your club use the 2012 Olympics to inspire new an existing sailors to get our on the water and make the most of the biggest sporting event in the world.

All nominated club representatives are invited to attend the conference, which will begin with a presentation, followed by interactive workshops looking at particular topics in more depth. Your club representative is welcome to attend as many as the workshops as they would like.

RYA Olympic Activation Programme

As part of this programme the RYA has launched ‘Sail for Gold’ which provides a comprehensive framework of on and off the water activities which you can tailor to suit your club. We hope to inspire new and existing sailors to get out on the water, make clubs the focal point for members to join in the spirit of the Olympics and maximise support for the world’s most successful Olympic classes sailing team, Skandia Team GBR.

The Sail for Gold Activator in your club will be the point of contact for us to let you all know about the activities and events planned, as part of this programme.

Rotherham Sailing Club

Rotherham Sailing Club has achieved a great deal in 18 months. This has been through hard work, enthusiasm, team effort, and taking maximum advantage of the support available from the RYA. Find out how they ‘activated’ their clubs’ social programme and on-the-water activities to encourage current members to become more active and welcome new members.

Your chance to talk to your Regional Development Officer, High Performance Manager and other RYA staff, who can advise and help you to access the resources the RYA has to offer.

Workshops

A series of interactive workshops will then follow, with the opportunity to choose the ones most relevant to your club. This year's four afternoon workshops are:

12 noon to 1pm - RYA Olympic Activation Programme

1pm to 2pm - Activate Your Fleet

2pm to 3pm - Marketing and Communication

3pm to 4pm - Sources of Funding

Your club will have received an invitation letter to the conference but if you can register online now. Please register for the presentation and any of the workshops you would like to attend.

Delegates will receive two tickets to visit the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show, which will be available for collection at the conference. Due to limited capacity and to give as many clubs as possible the opportunity to attend, it is only possible for one representative per club to attend the presentation session. This limit, however, does not apply to the workshops. Places go fast, so, to avoid disappointment, please register as soon as possible.
