The 2018 Portsmouth Yardstick (PY) List is now live! The official launch takes place on Saturday 3 March 2018, the first day of the RYA Dinghy Show. The launch creates a great buzz at the show as well as allowing sailors the opportunity to discuss changes with the RYA Technical Team in person. If you are attending The Dinghy Show over the weekend, the new 2018 PY List will be available to download via QR codes that will be placed around the Show ready to be scanned.
RYA Technical Manager, Rob Taylor, commented; "It is exciting to finally reveal the 2018 PY List; there has been lots of work behind the scenes over the winter with data collection and analysis by the RYA's EHAG committee. We would like to thank all clubs who submitted PY returns to us in 2017, without which we would not have the quality of data from which to produce the revised PY List. There has been some really positive developments to the pyonline.org.uk website aimed at making it more user friendly and a club orientated tool for gathering and sharing data in order to provide a more accurate starting point for fairer racing.
"I don't think the 2018 PY List brings any big surprises in number changes. We have seen a settling down of some numbers indicating stability for many classes, but we have also seen a continuation of performance trends led by design development and build techniques in some classes, through the introduction of new rigs and sails for example."
