It is the main RYA-organised OnBoard event in the southern part of the North West Region. The race got underway just after 10am  with Dovestones Sailing Club off to a flying start in the Laser 2000, winning the prize for the fastest first lap.

A notable mention must go to the OnBoard team from Elton Sailing Club, living up to their team name ‘Elton's Got Talent’, who sailed a Pico and managed to claim 3rd overall on the 1st lap putting them in a great position for the rest of the race.

During the early part of the race, leaders Dovestones Sailing Club encountered spinnaker problems that resulted in them being unable to use the spinnaker for much of the race.  This enabled other teams to quickly close the gap.

By 1200 there was a dead heat for 1st place between Dovestones and Burwain Sailing Club (sailing a RS Feva) closely followed by the home team , Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club (also in a RS Feva).

In the OnBoard fleet Elton's Got Talent continued to lead the way but chased hard by the team from Debdale Outdoor Centre. Shortly after noon Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club managed to take the lead and build up a reasonable advantage.  However disaster struck when they capsized and broke the kicker.  That dropped them down the order while they repaired the kicker.

By 1400 Burwain Sailing Club had taken control of the race  and won the 'fastest lap at 1400' prize. Dovestones Sailing Club were starting to miss their spinnaker and dropped to 5th overall behind the two RS Feva teams of West Lancashire Yacht Club and Hollingworth Lake SC who were now battling hard for a podium position.

In the OnBoard fleet Elton's Got Talent were being pushed hard by Debdale who briefly took the lead before Elton fought back and recaptured it. As the race reached the final stages Burwain Sailing Club and Elton's Got Talent had built  comfortable leads in their respective fleets . However the battle for the other podium positions was close.

In the Advanced Fleet second place went to West Lancashire YC who managed to hold off Hollingworth by just 10 seconds.

In the OnBoard fleet Debdale held onto second with Dovestones OnBoard team claiming the final podium position.

Overall it was a great day with close racing throughout which kept the crowds cheering. Thanks must got to Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club, Hollingworth Lake Water Activity Centre and Hollingworth Lake Activity Club who worked together to help run the event.
