Apply for 'Inspired Facilities' funding to use at your club 

£50million for Inspired Facilities

Is your club in need of refurbishment? The RYA is urging clubs and centres nationwide to apply for Sport England Inspired Facilities funding which will be allocated to improve up to 1000 community sports clubs.  

The £50million fund is part of the Places People Play legacy programme that  brings the magic of a home Olympic and Paralympic Games into the communities across the country.  

 Graham Manchester, Strategic Lead on Adult Participation explains: “This is a fantastic opportunity for clubs and centres to apply for funding which can be used to breathe new life into tired facilities and to make them more attractive to the people who take part in the sport.  

“The run up to the games is a vital time for clubs to be inviting new people into sailing and encouraging existing participants to take to the water more often. The Inspired Facilities funding will help clubs nationwide to engage with and be at the heart of the local community.”    

Successful applicants must demonstrate that the need for investment is community led, that it will have a positive impact on the sport and that it is sustainable.  

To help potential applicants to learn more about the fund, Sport England will be running workshops in locations across the country.  Spaces will be allocated on a first come first serve basis so if you would like to attend on behalf of your club or centre register early.     The workshops remaining include:    

25 July: South East – Guildford

 25 July: South West – Bristol

26 July: South East - Tonbridge

26 July: South West - Exeter

28 July: North West - Bolton

28 July: West Midlands - Walsall

1 August: East Midlands - Leicester

1 August: Yorkshire - Sheffield

3 August: London    

There are five rounds of funding over the next three years so clubs are advised to take their time and make a good case before submitting a bid.
