Are you aware of the Active People Survey?
Thank you to everybody who has already given up their time to take part in the Sport England Active People Survey.
The Active People Survey measures the proportion of adults who participate in sport and is conducted by telephone, calling home phone numbers selected at random.
Stay on the line and help raise the profile of the sport
The RYA is continuing to urge sailors and windsurfers nationwide who receive a call about leisure and recreational activities, to not hang up the phone but to stay on the line and agree to take part, so Sport England can get accurate results for the number of people who take part in the sport.
“The survey will take roughly 15 minutes but the results play an important role in helping us to understand the picture of participation in our sport, right across the country” explained Sport Development Manager Jon White.
“We want all sailors to speak up”
“Many people take part in sailing as a lifestyle activity and may not consider it to be a sport, but whether you are a cruiser, racer or windsurfer; we want all sailors to speak up. If you do get a call to take part, please do not hang up the phone.”
Results from the last Sport England Survey show that there are 68,000 people who participate in sailing at least once a week, and our research shows us that more than 850,000 people are out there enjoying the sport over the course of a year. If you do get a call to take part, please do not hang up the phone.
Please use our downloadable poster to help spread the word.
Active People Survey 5 started in mid October 2010 and will continue to mid October 2011.
