Change of location for RYA Power and Sail Muster

RYA Power and Sail Muster makes a move to the East Coast this Autumn...

The continually popular RYA Power and Sail Muster is having a bit of shake up this autumn when it moves location to the East Coast.

The event held on the 2 - 4 October is to be held at Suffolk Yacht Harbour near Levington, encouraging new attendees to the event.

Andrew Norton, RYA Cruising projects manager and event manager said: “The format for the event remains largely unchanged but we anticipate it being as popular in this location as it is over at Cowes.  We have a few new elements to this event which we believe attendees will find extremely useful, as well as some of the more regular features.”

The RYA Power and Sail Muster boasts a packed agenda incorporating boating master classes, boat handling and taster sessions, as well as expert presentations and skill building activities.

You’ll also have the opportunity to chat with industry experts about any issues you may have on your own boat on a one-to-one basis throughout the weekend.

Participants will be able to draw on the expertise of local Raymarine agents R&J Marine Electronics on electronic navigation, safety equipment with Ocean Safety, VHF Radio information from ICOM, and sessions on getting intimate with your engine by Sea Start, and for many of us who find the yacht loo or head a bewildering mystery, all will be revealed by Suffolk Yacht Harbour’s own workshop staff.

There will also be a life jacket and a life raft demo by Ocean Safety, and on Sunday morning a flare demo from the RNLI.

Another extremely popular aspect to the muster is the boat handling and skills master class sessions out on the water with East Anglian Sea School. Participants have the opportunity to swap sail for power or power for sail and try out how the other half take to the water.

Alongside the practical elements of the muster there’s a great social side too.  On Friday evening there is a drinks reception and a drinks and dinner on the Saturday evening held at Haven Ports Yacht Club LV87, where participants can get together and swap stories.

Prices for the Muster are £45 per head.
