Emily lands Rising Star grant
RYA East Midlands Young Sailor of the Year boosted by Notts CC grant
Young Bleasby windsurfing talent Emily Hall has been handed a boost in her quest to become a future British Olympian after receiving a Rising Stars Fund grant award from Nottinghamshire County Council.
For the second year running Emily, who last week was named the RYA’s 2011 East Midlands Young Sailor of the Year, was recognised as a worthy recipient for a Rising Stars award after her outstanding performances on the water, both home and abroad, in 2011.
The Nottinghamshire County Council Rising Stars Fund aims to support talented athletes who are currently competing at a regional level and above. The grant helps to cover such costs as travel, training, equipment, accommodation and competition fees.
Emily, a member of the prestigious RYA National Junior Squad, sails the Bic Techno 6.8m2 windsurf board, which is one of the junior windsurfing classes that sailing’s national governing body supports in developing Olympic potential.
Earlier this year, the Nottinghamshire youngster won a hugely-impressive Girls’ Under 15 age-group bronze at the Bic Techno World Championships in San Francisco, while she has won a number of other major national and international events.
She is once again grateful to have the support from Nottinghamshire County Council heading into 2012.
Emily said: “I have had a great year and am really pleased to receive the Notts County Council Grant for a second year, which will go towards helping my National Squad training.”
