Errwood Ready To Push The Boat Out In Landmark Year
Peak District club hosting free tasters as get ready for new clubhouse upgrade
Come and try sailing for FREE at Errwood Sailing Club on Sunday 18 May as the club prepares to celebrate a landmark 12 months in its 46-year history.
Errwood SC, on Errwood Reservoir near Buxton, invites you and your family to enjoy a free taste of sailing as the club hosts anyone-welcome taster sessions as part of national RYA Push the Boat Out weekend.
RYA Push the Boat Out weekend is a nationwide event that will see hundreds of sailing clubs across the country opening their gates for local people to come and ‘have a go’ at sailing, and at some clubs windsurfing too, with an experienced hand.
The Errwood tasters take place between 12pm-4.30pm. Just bring warm clothes, soft soled shoes and a towel and the club will provide you with everything else you need.
It is set to be a momentous year for Errwood SC as the club prepares to take advantage of its soon to be newly-renovated £49,500 Inspired Facilities-funded clubhouse for the first time by offering even more chances for local people to get into sailing.
Errwood has been working tirelessly on plans for the major refurbishment of it’s existing clubhouse after receiving the Inspired Facilities grant from Sport England’s London 2012 Olympic legacy fund in August, and building will get underway soon.
The new facilities, which will include new changing rooms, showers and toilets allowing disabled access, non-slip flooring, new windows and modernising the galley, will mean Errwood will be able to accommodate even more people in going sailing from this year while making their experience more enjoyable too.
The club will celebrate the opening of the new clubhouse with another everyone welcome Open Day later this summer.Errwood SC is a recognised RYA Training Centre meaning it conforms to the highest standards of quality and safety.
If you already know you want to learn to sail this year, and get involved in a fantastic, social outdoor sport where everyday life really does get left on the shore, Errwood plans to run more courses than ever before.
Its first adult RYA Start Sailing sessions begin on Saturday 7 June, with junior beginner courses scheduled too.
RYA Start Sailing introduces people to the basics and gives them the best first experience in the sport, while also providing opportunities for them to then stay involved and keep improving their skills at welcoming, inclusive sailing clubs.
