Hampshire man takes record at over 200kph
Keith Whittle of Powertech Marine Hampshire has just set a record at this weeks RYA Record week at Coniston using a Evinrude E-Tec 250 3.4 HO engine. The actual speed, for the two timed runs, was128.70 miles per hour.
Keith has smashed the record established at Last year's Coniston records week by The RYA Powerboat Racing Manager John Puddifoot who set the record at 118.48mph.
Commenting on the run Keith Whittle said ‘ Conditions during the week have not been ideal but this morning Coniston was flat and I managed an early run and I expected to exceed 200kph but not by such a large margin’
Earlier in the week Keith had set a record speed of 121.50 mph in his SL250 outboard powered catamarans using a standard production Evinrude E-Tec 250 3.3 HO power head coupled to an OMC F1 midsection and gearbox, fitted to an ex F1 RSV Velden hull designed by the late Caes Van Der Velden.
RYA Record week is completed for this year but Keith will be seen racing in 2010.
