P1 SuperStock racers set to take PSP Southampton Boat Show by storm
This Sunday 12 September, the P1 SuperStock competitors will battle it out in the penultimate round of the RYA National Championships at the PSP Southampton Boat Show.
Described as “an unrivalled buzz and a different thrill a minute,” the Powerboat P1 SuperStock Championship fleet will take part in four races. Racing will start at 11am on Saturday as the SuperStock 150 Class line up for the green flag in the first race of the day.
You can watch the action live either on-screen at the show’s Guinness Bar or out on the water on the Powerboat P1 Spectator Boat.
The P1 SuperStock teams will be going full throttle in the hopes of securing maximum points for the final of the Championship held in Lymington in early October, and with 40 points at Southampton up for grabs it could lead to a very close final round.
Leading the way in the P1 SuperStock 300 Championship is Team Heights of Abraham, the formidable duo of Pilot Rupert Pugh and Throttleman Daniel Whapples.
The Team had a storming start to the season and were unbeaten until round three in Pwllheli when technical problems saw them beaten by rookie team Rough Cut Racing.
Rough Cut Racing is sponsored by the PSP Southampton Boat Show and will be looking to close the gap again on the championship leaders.
In the SuperStock 150 Class Championship leaders Premier Cru look unstoppable having won every Grand Prix to date this season.
However, Rose Lores, Pilot of Team Eclipse, put in a formidable performance in the Cowes-Poole-Cowes Race and will undoubtedly be looking to upset Premier Cru’s winning streak.. Lores will be racing with Sara Cureton and this all female team will be out to show the crowds that you don’t have to be male to do well in this exciting motorsport.
“I can’t wait to race as part of the PSP Southampton Boat Show” comments Lores “It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase this fantastic sport. .
“We’re currently in second place in the Championship and whilst it will be hard to catch Premier Cru in the competition overall, there’s nothing to stop us taking the Grand Prix title on Sunday. The boat’s handling really well and out performed herself in the Cowes-Poole-Cowes race so hopefully with the flat conditions we’re expecting we can really push Premier Cru and Team Fox and storm home for a win.”
