Powerboat Racing Champions to be recognised at Gala Ceremony 

In celebration of the successes of British Powerboat Racers in 2011, where British racers walked away with seven World Championship titles,

10 World speed records, 78 British Championship titles and 23 British speed records, the RYA will be hosting a special gala awards ceremony in honour of these champions and record breakers.

Taking place on Saturday 4th February at the De Vere Grand Harbour hotel in Southampton. It will feature the prestigious RYA awards which honour winners across all disciplines in a hard fought season of power boating.

Over 350 people will be in attendance at the event that is being run in association with RB12.com, organisers of the Round Britain 2012, the Land, Air and Sea marathon race which will be the pinnacle event in the 2012 RYA Powerboat Racing Calendar.

The Directors of “RB12” are keen to support the sport of power boating and the RYA’s work and advice in this area.  They look forward to meeting all of the competitors and their guests at the RYA Award’s Ceremony in association with Round Britain 2012.

RYA Powerboat Racing Officer Nikki Drummond had this to say on the Gala event: “We are very proud of our racers and their achievements. Year on year Britain’s powerboat racers excel both in national and international competition and the standard of racing keeps on getting higher. The sheer number of awards that individuals are in attendance to receive highlights this quality.”

She continued “2012 is set to be a fantastic year for the sport with RB12 sure to be one of the highlights of the year. It’s great to have the support of the RB12 organisers for the awards ceremony not only to highlight Britain’s Powerboat racing success but also to highlight their upcoming event”
