RYA talks to Geoff Holt about the new Disabled Powerboating Trust
Find out what the trust is all about and how Geoff got things off the ground.
Geoff started sailing as a youngster and by the end of his sixteenth year he had sailed across the Atlantic three times, but at the age of 18 he broke his neck and was paralysed. This was the end of his sailing career until a few years later when he realised he could still sail and got back in to a boat, sailing using his teeth and hands. Geoff was an instrumental part in the establishment of the RYA Sailability programme but has most recently turned his attentions to powerboating.
With 22 programmes available for disabled sailing, it turned out there were none for powerboating for disabled people.
Here Geoff tells us about the journey to where he is today and how he went about setting up the Disabled Powerboating Trust
The Disabled Powerboating Trust is already working hard to raise money to get disabled people out powerboating.
