From the first ball-bearing blocks developed by Peter and Olaf Harken in 1967 to the latest high-performance solutions, Harken have been at the front of sailboat hardware development. 2017 marks 50 years at the cutting edge and Harken will showcase some of the latest innovations in sailboat hardware at the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show – with a real America’s Cup grinders pedestal and ultra-advanced air winch.

F101 show debut

Following the theme of innovation; the brand new hotly-anticipated F101 foiling trimaran will be making its first appearance on the Harken stand. The F101 has been designed to make foiling accessible to the average club racer.

To celebrate their 50th birthday and the launch of the F101, Harken UK have teamed up Foiling World, the brains behind the F101, to launch a competition to win the chance to learn to foil. One lucky winner and a friend will bag an unforgettable 2-day Learn-to-Fly experience with Pro-Vela in the warm waters of foiling paradise Mar Menor, Spain.

Two runners up will receive Harken goodies. The competition will be launched at the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show and will run until midnight on 30 April 2017. Entry will be available at the show and online via Facebook and Yachtsandyachting.com. Harken are offering a limited edition 50th birthday water bottle to everyone who signs up at the show.

Meet the team

Also being launched at the show are the new Little Hawk Race Podium Edition wind indicators. Developed with the world’s top sailors, this latest wind indicator offers a redesigned vane arm for greater accuracy and reduced sheet-snag.

The F101 will be joined on the stand by Luke Patience’s Rio 2016 Olympic 470 and there’ll be exclusive interviews with top sailors including Nick Craig and British Sailing Team members Ben Saxton (Nacra 17) and Sophie Weguelin and Eilidh McIntyre (470 Women). The Harken Tech Team will also be on hand to demonstrate products and answer any questions.
