Mount’s Bay Sailing Club, an RYA Affiliated Club, is delighted to have been asked to host the 2018 Gul GP Class World Championships. The prestigious event is set to take place from Sunday, 29 July to Friday, 3 August – with two races a day.
The event is filling up fast and is looking like an entry level of at least 130 boats. There will be the usual excellent race management, a packed social programme and lots of little touches that will make this a truly memorable Worlds.
Mount’s Bay Sailing Club is known for being one of the best dinghy championship venues in the UK due to its beautiful location and long tradition of holding championships.
The club has been running championships since 1959 and has already held the GP14 UK Nationals in 1986, 1992, 1999 and 2007. It also won the Royal Thames Yacht Club’s Race Management Trophy in the Enterprise World Championships and was shortlisted for the “Event of the Year” in 2014 when it hosted the RS400 Nationals.
Gul is the main sponsor for the event and had these words for the participants: “This is a prestigious event in Cornwall – the county in which Gul has always been based. We look forward to working with the Class and Club to ensure a successful championship.”
