The RYA has welcomed today’s Sport England Funding announcement which will underpin grassroots participation and support talented young athletes through the 2017-2021 period. The sport has been granted £6,369,850 across three investment areas; participation, disabled sailing and talent.

RYA Director of Sport Development Alistair Dickson said: “We’d like to thank Sport England for continuing to invest this level of funding into our sport. Whilst this is a reduction in funding from the last quadrennial, we are appreciative that the shifting priorities in the DCMS Strategy for Sport mean that the same money will be spread around many more partners during the next four years so a reduction was always inevitable.

"We look forward to continuing to work closely with Sport England to increase participation, support our talented young athletes and increase the number of opportunities for people to access our sport.”

This new strategy has opened up new funding opportunities which could be a great benefit to our clubs and centres that are working hard to make the sport as accessible as possible. For more information please see the funding section of the Sport England website here.
