Introduction to Jet Sport
Most of you will know these as 'jet skis' or personal watercraft. In racing terms they are referred to as Jet Sports nationally and Aquabikes, internationally - confused We thought you might be!
Note: for current information on obtaining a UIM Super Licence, click on link above.
This form of racing predominantly takes place on inshore waters and lakes.
There are many types of ski available from various manufacturers in this very competitive field.
The RYA is the governing body for this racing and the sport is organised by two main groups - the JSRA (Jet Sport Racing Association) for mainland Britain and the IJSA (Irish Jet Sport Association) for Ireland. Both require riders to be members of their association and all the documentation and paperwork that you require to get your RYA licence to race is initially handled by them. The JSRA and IJSA will offer you help and guidance to allow your first steps into competitive racing to be as 'painfree' as possible!

Note: results are maintained throughout the season by the JSRA and the IJSA.
The Calendar: Please always double check with the organiser before attending an event in case there have been any last minute changes.
Important note to Super Licence competitors: You must inform the RYA by the end of each year, ie by November, if you wish to hold a Super Licence for the following season, and which category. This is then submitted to the UIM. You must also obtain a copy of the UIM requirements for Super Licences at the beginning of each season, and these can be obtained from their website.
Note: If you require replacement documentation there will be a charge of 10, (ie loss of licence etc.)
Important note: When making payment to the RYA for your Powerboat Licence, Measurement Certificate, Homologation Papers, etc. can you please ensure that you have adequate funds in your bank to support the cheque, or when submitting a credit card payment, that the card has not got rigor mortis! Much time has been spent this season on chasing dishonoured cheques or declined cards.
