Celebrate the build up to London 2012
Olympic Spirit is in the air today (Wednesday 18 April) as we celebrate ‘100 days to go’ until the official opening of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
With the Games taking place in the UK, the profile of sport has never been so high and of course we have a special interest in sailing!
The British Sailing Team are busy with final preparations for the Games including training for the Skandia Sail for Gold Regatta in June which will be the last Olympic and Paralympic Classes Regatta to be held at the Games venue before London 2012.

In 2012 some 600 sailing clubs, centres and marinas will be embracing the excitement of the 2012 Sailing Events, by organising Sail for Gold event and activities across the UK.
July 21 is RYA ‘Push the Boat Out’ day when boaters across the country will take to the water to showcase sailing to the nation and show their support for our Olympic and Paralympic sailors. Some of the activities already planned include pursuit races, open days, taster sessions, mass flotillas, picnics, parties, fancy dress events and lots of fun and games.
Clubs will also be inviting their local communities to get out on the water and give sailing a try with ‘Sail for Gold have a go sessions’ as well as organising celebrations to coincide with the 2012 Torch Relay.
