Team Volvo for life is a group of elite, inspirational British athletes at the pinnacle of their sailing career.  With the backing of Volvo, the sailors hope to attain their ultimate goal, gold at 2012.

Volvo RYA Champion Club Programme

The Volvo RYA Champion Club recognises those sailing clubs with a commitment to youth sailing and race coaching. It aims to encourage young sailors and windsurfers at the grass roots level, to stay in the sport and learn to compete. Ultimately the goal is to increase Britain s medal wins in international regatta, building on the British Sailing Team s successes. There are currently 174 clubs involved in the programme throughout the UK.

Volvo Gill Optimist Championships

The Optimist class is a crucial part of Volvo Car UK commitment to supporting British sailing from the grass roots to the pinnacle of the sport. 

Sailed by 8-15 year olds, the 2.3 metre optimist has proven an excellent starter boat across the globe and has helped groom some of sailings great names including triple Olympic gold medallist Ben Ainslie and double Olympic gold medallist, Sarah Ayton. Volvo sponsors the 5 key Optimist events during the season; the Spring, Inland, National, End of Season and Winter Championships.
