RYA Level 2 Club Racing Coach Courses 

ELIGIBILITY
This course is suitable for candidates who have a lot of windsurfing racing experience though the Team15 programme, the RYA Squad programme, club racing, UKWA or other racing circuits. You do not have to be an instructor to attend this course.

ABOUT THE COURSE
The course is an intense weekend looking at the theory of coaching and applying it in practical series of on the water exercises. Each candidate will be expected to run complete sessions including a brief, on the water exercises with feedback and a debrief. The aim of the course is to provide candidates with all of the skills and techniques to coach racing to youth and adult sailors.

Once qualified you will be able to deliver and award Start Racing, Intermediate Racing and Advanced Racing, where appropriate, working at affiliated clubs or recognised training centres.

PRE-REQUISITES

• RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate
• A valid RYA recommended first aid certificate (6 hours duration and covering hypothermia)
• Appropriate racing experience (club/regional or national)
• Appropriate current racing knowledge (classes/pathways)
• Previous instructing experienced is preferred but is not essential if the candidate has suitable alternative experience.

HOW DO I ACCESS A COURSE?
Limited courses are run by the RYA Coaching Development team. Application is online via the RYA Racing Coaches website.

RYA High Performance Managers will assess all applications and suitability of candidates and can answer any further queries.

NO SUITABLE COURSES AVAILABLE?
Should you not be able to make the advertised course, you can add your name to the waiting list, which is also available through the same online registration process (visit the website and refer to ‘Courses’).

REVALIDATION
This award requires revalidating every three years either at Sail Smart or by sending your in-date first aid certificate and logbook with evidence of your current coaching to Coaching Development at RYA House.
