Race Management
Attendance at a Race Management Seminar, and passing the associated examination, is a prerequisite for an application to become a Regional or National Race Officer.
Conferences are a method of keeping up to date.
National Race Management Seminar
The National Seminar is organised and run by RYA Race Management Committee approved Instructors. There is likely to be one per year held in varying parts of the country. There is an exam associated with the seminar and a pass is one of the requirements for the NRO qualification. Preparation for the seminar includes being very familiar with the RYA Race Management Guide (click on the download button on the right side of this page). Candidates attending this seminar must be a Regional Race Officer or a National Race Officer (attending as a refresher) unless there are exceptional circumstances.

The Regional Seminar was previously known as the Regional Race Officer (RRO) Course or the OMRO Course and are organised by the Regional Race Management Coordinators and run by RYA Race Management Committee approved Instructors. The Seminars are held around the country. Preparation for the seminar includes being familiar with the RYA Race Management Guide (click on the download button on the right side of this page). At the end of the Seminar, a 50 question multi-choice exam is set with a 70% pass mark. A pass in this exam gives the candidate, as long as they are an RYA member, an automatic Club Race Officer Plus (CRO+) qualification and certificate. This exam pass is one of the requirements for the RRO qualification.
