Northern Ireland
Junior and Youth Sailing in Northern Ireland is managed by the Royal Yachting Association Northern Ireland (RYANI).
The RYA has an office based in Belfast, which is staffed by one part time and three full time members of staff.
Regional Training and Northern Ireland Junior Squad
Open Pathway training for Toppers, Optimists and Laser 4.7s in Northern Ireland is organised by the RYA NI in conjunction with a number of the leading clubs.
The RYANI Junior Squad is seleceted with 16-18 Toppers from across the province, who receive 12 days' training, sports science support and coach & funding support for selected overseas events.
Northern Ireland Youth Squad
Members of the youth squad in the Laser Radial/Standard class are selected from the RYA NI Youth Championships. The programme is funded through the SportsNI, and offers 12 days' training, sports, science support and event coach support at overseas competitions.
The RYANI are currently workinig with the 420 Class Association to develop a double handed pathway in the province for sailors who will not have the physical profile for a Laser.
