Sailability exists to give everyone the chance to sail; many of the people we assist have no previous experience of sailing and disability is not an obstacle to taking part or being successful at sailing.
Whatever your disability, we can make it possible for you to sail. Sailability facilitates the foundation sites in the North West to develop sailing opportunities and provides support for them on a range of topics; Disability Awareness Training, competitive sailing, grants, volunteer support, best practice & advice, certificates and badges for sailors.
RYA Sailability have a team of four Development Officers around the UK, who hold a wide range of information and advice to support clubs, volunteers and sailors with questions that arise, when involved with disabled sailing.
The North West has Sailability Officer who is on hand to help, whilst promoting disabled sailing activities and increasing the numbers of disabled sailors. We also rely on our officers to ensure the facilities available throughout their region are utilised as much as possible.

RYA Sailability Centres of Excellence
The North West region has two locations with Centre of Excellence status.
Each centre meets a variety of criteria, most importantly the accessibility of the club being able to provide sailing to 9 or more categories of disability. Each centre must have an Disability Awareness instructor .The selected sites are also RYA Recognised Training centres.
These sites are now examples of good practice within disabled sailing. They are also a vital link for clubs and centres that wish to get involved and want to see how things happen in practice.
