Contract for Services – Pathway Physical Preparation coach working with British Youth Sailing Team

Interview Location: Unit 26 Performance Unit, Portland Marina, Hamm Beach Road, Portland, DT5 1DX (Interviews will be in person)

Closing Date: 30th November 2024

Start Date: ASAP

Essential Dates: 2025 dates to be discussed and agreed.

Contract day rate: £160 per day

Contract length: 6 months (with opportunity to extend)

Number of Days: 20 days

Location: A mixture of remote (evening) work and attending monthly national training camps will be required.


BRITISH YOUTH SAILING BACKGROUND

British Youth Sailing Team’s purpose is ‘To develop the best racing sailors in the world’. Supported by the National Lottery, UK Sport and Sport England funding, British Youth Sailing aims to deliver an inspirational performance environment that allow sailors to achieve their potential within the sport of sailing. The role will support athletes selected into our British Youth Sailing Team squads across all disciplines enabling them to achieve their potential & successfully transition into the British Sailing Squad.

SERVICE REQUIREMENT SUMMARY

The British Youth Sailing Team is seeking the services of a Pathway Physical Preparation Coach to provide a comprehensive physical preparation support service to sailors & squads. This position presents an exciting chance for a qualified and experienced coach to deliver creative and engaging Physical Preparation support. The coach’s role will focus on all aspect of an athletes physical development, to enable British Youth Sailing Team athletes to achieve exceptional performances and seamlessly transition into the British Sailing Squad and beyond.

This role requires the flexibility and willingness to work irregular or unsociable hours outside of ‘normal’ office hours – evenings, weekends, potentially bank holidays (as is typical of a Pathway position in elite sport)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver physical field testing and feedback sessions for every squad discipline during National camps.
  • Drive the delivery and development of the service through the pathway, aligned to the sports development framework
  • Design and deliver engaging and interactive virtual educational workshops aimed at informing and educating athletes.
  • Provide physical development programs to each sailor/squad to help their athletic development.
  • Offer fundamental strength and conditioning education and coaching sessions during training camps.
  • Assist in the preparation for the Youth Worlds Team.
  • Provide nutritional education and support, using a food first focused approach to health and performance.
  • Participate in and provide assistance during discipline squad training camps.
