The Royal Yachting Association, based in Hamble, near Southampton, is the national governing body for all forms of recreational, competitive and professional boating.  It represents dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sportsboats, windsurfing, inland cruising and personal watercraft. 

 

 


Job Role:  Internal Communications Manager


Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum


Full Time: 35 hours per week


Location: Hamble (hybrid working)

The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Internal Communications Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the consumer and corporate PR Managers to support the Head of PR & Strategic Engagement. The role involves prioritising, planning, delivering, and evaluating internal comms and engagement activities to ensure strategic alignment and compliance with brand guidelines.

Your responsibilities as Internal Communications Manager will include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and deliver internal PR campaigns that align with the RYA PR strategy.
  • Plan and deliver regular updates across the RYA network with the Digital Marketing Manager.
  • Create implementation plans outlining campaign tactics.
  • Develop key messaging for various internal audiences.
  • Ensure resilience to crises with a robust, regularly tested crisis management plan.
  • Manage ‘All Staff’ communications and consult on Senior Management team content.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Insight team on audience-centric content and website updates.
  • Participate in key stakeholder groups or delegate as needed.
  • Cultivate relationships with stakeholders across the RYA network.
  • Provide speech writing and copywriting support for internal stakeholders.
  • Support HR in communicating company-wide announcements.
  • Assist the Head of PR in maintaining a centralised PR function and streamline processes.
  • Advise Home Countries communication leads and support regional internal comms activities.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Proven experience in PR with strong internal communications skills and strategic thinking.
  • Resilient, collaborative team player, effective under pressure with strong emotional intelligence.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, capable of managing crisis and issue communications.
  • Educated to A level or equivalent; CIPR qualification and sector experience desirable.
