Discover Sailing

As you are aware we've been postponing the start of the Discover Sailing 2020 campaign whilst we monitor the latest advice from the respective government guidelines.

Since then although we have seen an upsurge in on the water activity during this summer, we're also acutely aware of the lack of capacity that both clubs and volunteers have. As we do not wish to add to this burden we have reluctantly take the decision to cancel Discover Sailing 2020.

Over the past few weeks we've been increasingly hearing from some clubs that not only are seeing more interest and activity from their club membership but are also attracting new members from those who are returning to our sport, by either getting the boat which has sat in their garden for a few years out on the water, or have taken the plunge and bought one in order get out on the water.

RYA Programme Manager Michelle Gent said: "Although 2020 may not be the year for running open days, we are really pleased to see so many people making the most of the freedom and remembering why they love being on the water so much. We want to celebrate this over the summer".
