Gallagher RYA InsuranceReturn to Activity & Risk Validation

Gallagher provide insurance solutions to many RYA Affiliated Clubs and Recognised Training Centres (RTCs) and can confirm that scheme insurers simply ask that the regulations/guidelines of UK Government and RYA's own guiding principles are followed at all times.

It is vitally important that appropriate risk assessments are carried out and copy documentation retained in respect of all activities undertaken - in the event that evidence is needed in the future. Insurers will naturally expect policyholders to comply with Health & Safety Legislation, including adequate management of COVID-19 related risks.

The risk assessment should clearly show that the controls implemented reduce the risk as low as reasonably practical. This will demonstrate that the duty of care has been fulfilled and would be important in the defence of an insurance claim for personal injury or illness or intervention by the Health and Safety Executive or other regulatory authority.

Whilst Gallagher would encourage existing policyholders to contact their dedicated Account Service Team should they have any specific questions relating to returning to activity, you may wish to also consider Gallagher's innovative Risk Validation service.

The service available via Gallagher supplements the advice and guidance provided to you by RYA and is now available to all existing customers.

For a one-off fee of £450.00 plus VAT, Gallagher Risk Management Solutions health and safety consultants will arrange a conference or video call to ascertain an understanding of your organisation and to establish context before undertaking an independent, professional review of your COVID-19 Risk Assessment against existing legislation, COVID-19 guidance and protocols.

Where the risk assessment is considered suitable and sufficient it will be validated by the health and safety consultant. Having a validated and successfully implemented COVID-19 risk assessment will enhance your mitigation and defensibility should a COVID-19 incident occur at your premises. In the event that the COVID-19 risk assessment is not considered suitable or sufficient, the consultant will provide a brief, high level summary of the areas that require improvement.

It is recognised that some organisations may not have access to capability or expertise to utilise the supplied areas requiring improvement and further assistance may be required. For an additional fee of £300.00 plus VAT (total £750.00 plus VAT), Gallagher's health and safety consultant will advise, with specific detail, the areas requiring further consideration and offer suggestions to assist you with the document's further development.

It is important to note that the risk validation service will not extend to provide advice regarding on water risk management, which remains the core focus of RYA as detailed and outlined in recent publications and guiding principles.
