Responding to a Covid19 case at your club

Despite all our best efforts and sacrifices we know that COVID is still in the community and sadly it is only a matter of time before an outbreak of the virus is connected to a sailing club.

We are aware of two suspected cases of COVID where the persons have been at their sailing clubs during the incubation period. Thankfully both turned out to be false alarms and all involved and recovering from their non-COVID related infections.

However, it has made those clubs and others think carefully about what they would do in the case of a suspected case at their club.

Our advice is to :

  • Follow public health advice and support test and trace.
  • Make sure everyone's contact numbers and emergency contact details are up to date.
  • Anyone who displays or develops symptoms of Covid-19 should be sent home.
  • Inform the RYA of a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 at your club by emailing sport.development@rya.org.uk so we can offer support and advice

The Royal Victoria Yacht Club are one of the clubs that had a suspected case. Our Regional Development Officer for the South Susie Moore explores how the club dealt with this situation and what they learnt.
