Back in February we announced a whole host of special Joining Point promotions for 2020 including prize boxes, the great fees competition and double commission promotions. Little did we know things would dramatically change in the coming months and many of our planned activities would need to be put on hold.
However, with things slowly returning to a new normal we are delighted to be able to reinstate some of the special Joining Point promotions.
To get things underway, throughout October, RYA affiliated clubs who have signed up to the Joining Point programme will enjoy double commission for every new RYA member they sign up.
Simply spread the word about RYA membership and encourage your members to join the association and throughout October registered Joining Points will receive double the standard commission values of the scheme, receiving £20 commission for every family membership or £15 for every personal membership they sign up.
The commission earned can be fed back in to the club to help with the purchase of kit, provide money for refreshments at an event, help pay for renovations, put towards new boats; the choices are endless.
The Joining Point scheme is very easy to administer. The promotional materials are clear concise and attractively presented and the scheme provides a clear route and link between club sailing and sailors and the RYA.
The pricing structure between membership and the cost of an ICC allows us to make an easy sell to newly qualified Powerboat Level 2; membership is effectively free, and you get all of the benefits and protections of the RYA and your ICC, commented Andy Airnes, Training Secretary and the administrator of the Joining Point scheme at Blackpool and Fleetwood Yacht Club.
The Joining Point programme is a real win for everyone involved. Registered clubs earn valuable commission, new members enjoy the benefits of being a member and the RYA membership grows, commented Gemma Garrett, RYA Membership Engagement Officer.
Why join the RYA?
So one of the questions you may get asked by your members is why they should join the RYA?
Membership is at the heart of everything we do at the RYA with membership fees reinvested to support sport and club development and develop future talent, explained Gemma.
The more members we have the stronger our voice to represent our members and the wider boating community ensuring legislators, regulators and other authorities understand and take account of recreational boating activity.
Most recently due to the strength of voice we were able to lobby on behalf of the recreational boating community to ensure boating was first on the list of those sports allowed to restart following lockdown.
As well as supporting the association's lobbying work, members also enjoy access to free boating related legal, regulatory and technical advice from our in-house experts when they need it most. Plus, a whole host of benefits, rewards, discounts and offers from over 80 member reward partners, offering great savings on everything from kit and clothing to holidays and travel. While the quarterly RYA Magazine and regular e-newsletters help keep members up to date with all the latest news and events, advice and tips.

Special promotions update
Unfortunately due to the unforeseen pandemic we had to cancel some of our Joining Point special promotions that we had lined up for 2020 including the goodie box competition and the Win your 2021 fees competition, to ensure that all Joining Points had a fair chance to take part and be in with a chance of winning.
However, we are delighted to announce that we will be running both these special promotions in 2021 so look out for more information coming soon.
