Firstly, I would like to welcome Kirsty Knight who joined us on the 24 May, taking over from Lisa as HR Advisor. Unlike most joiners she needs to know each of you. She will be doing a blend of working from home and in the office over her first two weeks and we have a full induction plan. Please take the time to introduce yourself to her via Teams or in person. Her email address is firstname.lastname@example.org
The last 12 months have shown that we can work differently, and we continue to evaluate what the future of work at the RYA looks like. All topics are being considered including flexible working and workspaces, digital improvements, staff policies and procedures. If you would like to input into this thinking, please contact me (Dave.Strain@rya.org.uk) – I will also take the opportunity to discuss this at the next round of meet the managers meetings.
When we return to the office, we will need more volunteers for reception cover (to enable Sue and Sarah to have appropriate breaks), to act as Fire Wardens and to be First Aiders. With fewer people onsite at a time we will likely need more volunteers as we cannot just rely on the current core of people who are willing to help. Appropriate training and clothing is provided – and you might get to practice with a fire extinguisher!
