While speaking to many clubs in the past month it is very apparent that they continue to want more information to support workforce development; specifically volunteer recruitment and retaining of existing volunteers. This topic never runs out of steam and there is a lot of helpful information online in the ClubZone section of the RYA website. The ClubZone area was once password restricted but it is now fully open (apart from legal resources which still require your club login) so do take a look and familiarise yourself with the club development content. Visit RYA ClubZone

At a recent online forum supporting volunteer recruitment there were some key links I shared to the attendees that you might find useful to have. These resources are transferable across any size club and any discipline. Whatever type of club you are, if you use volunteers, our resources can help.

We have also been busy supporting clubs and centres with youth development so here are the links I've been sharing. Our OnBoard resources are free to any club whether you’re an OnBoard provider or not, so do take a look.

Regional instructor and coach training programmes and continuing professional development (CPD)

Please see Instructor Training which shows this year's programme and a poster which can be downloaded, and Instructor and Coach Courses and CPD which provides booking links for the courses and details of online sessions.  I would be grateful if you can share this small boat scheme training programme within your club/centre. Please book early to help us plan but to also secure your place. For any course on the poster yet to be live on the booking page please secure your place early by emailing Simon Winkley

Share your stories

We’re always looking out for stories like those above to pop on our web site and send to your local media, or snippets, photos and short videos (100s max.) to share on our social media. All should have some RYA connection. Other clubs can enjoy your achievements and benefit from your experience. Please send them to Mike Haigh
