One of the highlights of the past month was the success of the Asymmetric Instructor Development Day at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre. Instructors enjoyed good conditions and a wind which built throughout the day, leaving participants asking for more.
I will be looking to organise more events like this in the future!
However the big message from me this month is to get your entries in for the British Youth Sailing Regional Junior Championships at Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club on the weekend of 28-29 September.
This year’s popular junior event will again feature Championship, Regatta and OnBoard fleets. For the OnBoard fleet, all boats are supplied so you just need to rock up and sail! Only 36 places are available for the OnBoard fleet so enter early to avoid missing out. Grab your spot now.
This year our aim is to achieve 85% by 15 August. At the time of writing 40% of clubs had completed the return. This is a good start, but we have our work cut out to get to the finish line. The 85% return rate is essential if we want to provide you with accurate and reliable results!
For those that haven't yet got around to it, there's still time and the form can be accessed on line here
The census is so important for our regional and national teams as we plan for the years ahead and every return is really important to us. I would like to thank you all very much in advance for your support in helping us reach the target return rate for the annual club membership census and for those of you who have already completed the census.
This year’s RYA Affiliated Club Conference will be held on 1 December at The Anderton Centre in Chorley. We will again have great speakers talking about a wide range of topics including; environmental, legal, racing and technical.
The Anderton Centre is a great central venue, close to the M61 & M6 so should provide the ideal venue for this year’s event. Booking will open in September and early booking is advised to ensure space on your preferred sessions. Save the date!
The popular event will be back at Waterside Lodge in Southport next year following a great event at Towerwood in 2019. The day will once again be filled with great shore based and water-based activity. Planning is already underway to make the 2020 event the best yet. Booking and full event details will be available later this year. Put it in your diary.
