Exemption on the closing down of Class XII Machinery Spaces

Regulation 38 in the Merchant Shipping (Fire Protection: Small Craft) Regulations 1998 is applicable to every ship to which the Regulations apply. This regulation therefore applies to Class XII Vessels (Pleasure Vessels of 13.7 metres in length and over).

An ‘Exemption on the closing down of Class XII Machinery Spaces’ has been issued which exempts ships of Class XII with a length of less than 24 metres, that are constructed to the Recreational Craft Directive, from certain elements of Regulation 38.

Full information is given in Annex 3 on pages 32 and 33 of MGN 599.
