There’s never been a better time to explore your local environment, and what better way to see this than from the water through the #DiscoverSailing programme.

On coastline, lakes and waterways across the UK there are around 2,000 RYA affiliated clubs and centres offering opportunities for water-lovers of all ages to get afloat, with many of these based on the East Coast inland rivers, lakes, Broads, estuaries and waterways. This summer some venues are running #DiscoverSailing sessions inviting you to come and ‘have a go’ for very little cost or FREE.

Clubs that have signed up in the East Region so far include Hickling Windsurfing Club (Norfolk), Horning Sailing Club (Norfolk), Coldham Hall Sailing Club (Norfolk), Blakeney Sailing Club (Norfolk), Snettisham Beach Sailing Club (Norfolk), Royal Corinthian Yacht Club (Essex), Hunts Sailing Club (Cambridgeshire), Maylandsea Bay Sailing Club (Essex), Priory Sailing Club (Bedfordshire) and Ouse Amateur Sailing Club (Norfolk).

Research has proven that boating and being in ‘blue space’ has a positive effect on health and mental well-being, so this summer some venues are running #DiscoverSailing sessions, inviting you to come and ‘have a go’ for very little cost and experience the benefits for yourself.

Sailing really is for all ages and abilities who will enjoy the thrill of learning a new skill, meeting new friends, and getting out in the fresh air. By joining a sailing club, you can give back to that community through volunteering and helping to run the club. So what are you waiting for? Give sailing a go this summer.
