RYA Affiliated Club Conferences 2018

These popular regional conferences are returning for 2018 and are recommended for anyone involved in running a club. They are a great opportunity to not only give your club a head start for the next season but to find out how to make the most of the services on offer from the RYA.

The theme for 2018 events will be 'learning from others' whether that's sharing success stories within our sport from other clubs, centres and experts or wider organisations including businesses and other sports.

More information on agendas will be coming in later months but here are the dates and venues that have been confirmed so far. Find out more

Sailactivity is now live!

Last month Sailability launched a new digital tool, Sailactivity, that can be used by Sailability Sites, sailors and volunteers to register themselves and log activity.

The aim is to introduce as many disabled people to sailing as possible and help them build a lifetime habit of sailing and activity. Being able to evidence how boating is reducing inactivity, enabling people to learn new skills, improve wellbeing and connect with others is increasingly important, not only for the RYA and its funders, but also for local groups as they seek support for what they do.

Joff McGill the Sailability Manager said “We already have some great feedback from sailors that have registered and logged their activities through the online platform. It is showing us that Sailability is more than sailing and has a real impact on people’s lives.”

Through Sailactivity, participants are reflecting on what it means to meet new people, feel part of a group, push themselves to their limits (particularly when its windy) and learn new coping strategies.

There are currently 20 Sailability sites signed up to using this online platform. In the coming months there is hope that more rich data is collected that we can report on.
