Pay for your affiliation by Direct Debit

Do you pay club subscription by Direct Debit? Almost 700 of our affiliated clubs and classes take advantage of this cheap and easy way to stay affiliated. In the evolving world of clubs and classes, with changes to treasurers and club addresses sometimes being unoccupied through the winter months we have developed the facility for clubs to pay for their affiliation by Direct Debit. This has now been extended to cover all of the items that clubs purchase from the RYA such as ensigns, books and training materials.

All clubs signing up to pay by direct debit before March 31 2019 will be entered into a prize draw!

Please email for more details.

Earn double commission in March as an RYA Joining Point

Throughout March if your club, training centre or marine organisation is signed up to the RYA Joining Point programme you’ll earn double the commission for every new RYA member you sign up.

Registered Joining Points will receive double the standard commission values of the scheme for the whole of March, receiving £20 commission for every family membership or £15 for every personal membership they sign up. The commission earned can then be fed back in to their organisation.

Increased safeguarding support

Recognising the importance of safeguarding children, young people and adults at risk taking part in boating, the RYA Board has approved the appointment of a Safeguarding Officer to work with the Safeguarding and Equality Manager, Jackie Reid. This will enable us to be more proactive in providing information, resources and training to affiliated organisations. The new Safeguarding Officer is Andrea Gates. Jackie and Andrea can be contacted at

The RYA recommends that every club that has members aged under 18, or provides activities for adults at risk, has a safeguarding policy and procedures, and a named person to act as Welfare Officer. This is a requirement for RYA Recognised clubs, class associations and training centres. Do we know who your current Welfare Officer is? Please ensure that they get in touch with the RYA and provide their contact details if they haven’t already done so. We can then keep them updated on any changes to our guidance, links to useful information, training courses etc.

All of our safeguarding guidance is available on the website at
