The annual RYANI Youth Championships will take place in Royal North of Ireland Yacht Club on 29th and 30th September. The event, which is now in its 29th year sees sailors competing in a number of categories including, class, overall Youth, overall Junior, Schools Cup and Club Trophy.

There will once again be a Regatta fleet for those sailors who are new to racing and want to develop their skills.

High Performance Manager Matt McGovern said, ‘we expect this year’s Youth Championships to be a great event. Many classes have already lent their support and confirmed they will be in attendance. RNIYC is going to great lengths to ensure a well-run regatta, with an army of volunteers on hand to help”.

The Youth Championships also plays a key part in the selection of sailors onto the RYANI Performance Programmes with RYANI Performance Coaches attending in order to assess the potential of candidates for later in the year.  RYANI performance staff will also be in attendance to discuss the programme with interested sailors.

Once again the John Merricks Trust will be joining up with the Youth Championships and gifting a boat to promising youngsters who display enthusiasm, drive, talent and commitment to the sport and who may not ordinarily have the opportunity or financial backing to achieve their goals.  For full details on this, please click here or contact the RYANI directly.
