In proposing Abi, Ali Butler-Baines, business development officer at the centre said: "Abi joined the Grafham Flyers RYA OnBoard scheme many years ago as a very young girl who was potentially interested in learning to sail. Now 13 years of age, Abi is excelling with her sailing and has recently qualified as an assistant dinghy instructor along with three other of her OnBoard sailing friends.

"For some time, Abi has been the "head girl" at our OnBoard club and she sets a great example to the younger members who come through the scheme each year.

"Her willingness to learn and take on advice is incredible, which in turn has helped Abi with several successes at local youth regattas.

"Abi has also participated under the Grafham OnBoard umbrella at various national youth regattas, including the National School Sailing Association regatta for the last four years.

"Abi sails her own RS Feva these days, which is a long way away from her first sailing session in a FunBoat.

"I nominated Abi for this award, to say thank you for her hard work and dedication to not only sailing in general but for her commitment to OnBoard, as she now helps out with sessions, teaching the younger ones and making their first taste of sailing fun and exciting. Abi is a real credit to the rest of the OnBoard team and an absolute pleasure to be around. Well done Abi!"

Ali added: "This is fantastic news for Abi and her parents, and also more good publicity for us as a centre, and our ever popular growing RYA OnBoard Club."
