Anyone is invited to get on the water for free as GT Adventure - the new outdoor adventure training centre at in Shard End - welcomes you to Try Sailing on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 July.

The centre, which launched earlier this year, is opening its doors from 10am until 4pm on both days as part of its mission to offer high quality outdoor activities to the public and groups that might not normally have these opportunities.

GT Adventure is a recognised Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Training Centre meaning it conforms to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Gavin Bennett, Director/Principal, said: "We want to reach local schools, young people, adults, community groups and workplaces to provide a new experience with opportunities to participate regularly.

"Learning to sail develops perseverance, commitment, patience, overcoming fear, team work and determination, all essential life skills for inner-city young people, while we want to broaden horizons by taking young people from different areas out of the city to a neutral environment where they can thrive and which challenges the territorial bias in anti-social behaviour. Our aim is to achieve positive change in changing attitudes."

GT Adventure also provides the opportunity to gain nationally-accredited training qualifications in a range of activities, from basic skills to instructor and leadership qualifications, to support potential pathways in to work, apprenticeships and future careers within the outdoor adventure industry and beyond.

Book online at www.gtadventure.co.uk/book-online to secure your free space - this is not necessary but recommended to avoid waiting times. Just bring soft soled shoes you don’t mind getting wet, a towel and your sense of adventure! Buoyancy aids will be supplied and food and beverages available.
