RYA's new Strategic plan has been produced and includes some specific detail on Race management which is viewed as a key piece in the development of our sport in the region. Among the targets were; to have a trained rules advisor in each club and increasing the number of women in race management . Therefore we are pleased to announce that Robin Gray, Regional Race Management Coordinator has now confirmed dates for the RYA Regional Race Officials Conference and the RYA Race Officer Course.

Race Officials Conference - Ballyholme YC on Saturday 7th April.

RYA Race Officer Course (formerly the Regional Race Officer Seminar) - Ballyholme YC on 14th/15th April.

In your own club.

Robin or Denis Todd, Regional Rules Advisor, can of course, still arrange Club Race Officer Courses at your club - Now called the Club Race Team Course to reflect what the course really does - these are designed to give the member doing his occasional duty on battery a bit of confidence.

They can also come to your club and run a Club Mark Layer Course which will incorporate a short practical course on using GPS for course setting and moving - including trapezoid course.

There are very few clubs in Northern Ireland that have a Judge or Racing Rules Advisor, this is a key target for RYANI new strategic plan. The team can train a member or members so that a protest or arbitration (much quicker) meeting runs according to the rules - contact Robin or Denis to arrange.

If Denis or Robin come to your Club to run a Club Race Officer or GPS or Marklaying course or Rules talk - there is no charge to the Club for our time. The only cost is our mileage.

Below you can download a flyer for your notice board on the RRO course and Race Officials Conference and application forms.

Robin & Denis have put a great number of Club members through these courses over the last four years and the feedback is that they definitely help the participants run better, safer racing - and have more fun!

Call us, Robin or Denis for further information or to arrange a course.

We are also hoping to provide newly trained officials with opportunities to build on their experience and work towards becoming regionally and national recognised qualifications. If you club is running a one design or open event and you would like some help, please get in touch and us know.
