The Eastern Region is gearing up for the RYA East Zone and Home Country Championships, due to take place on 23 & 24 September 2017. Open to young sailors aged under 16, it is being held at Royal Harwich Yacht Club at Woolverstone, Suffolk.

With main fleet racing in Optimist and Topper classes, and regatta fleets in Optimist, Toppers and Teras (Sport Rig only) with coach support for those new to racing, it is a great event, particularly for those looking to take part in their first championship. It can be a goal for the end of training and racing over the summer, and a good learning experience along the pathway to success. It is also an indicator event for the Zone Squads, so a key date for the diary if you are looking to join the squads.

Paul Wren, High Performance Manager for the East, London & South East said "The Zone Championships are a fantastic way to get into sailing at a bigger event, it may seem daunting racing somewhere other than your club but there are lots of people to help and a great atmosphere."
